My own feeling is that you have to have relationship in place before training can take place if you want a happy horse. THOUGHTS ON HOW OUR ENERGY AFFECTS THE WAY HORSES LEARN AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RELATIONSHIP & TRAINING 'The Path of the Horse' A film by Stormy May. A brave and honest piece of work - be prepared to be rocked out of your comfort zone, but a 'must view' in my opinion.
'Naked Liberty' by Carolyn Resnick. A great read to understand wild horse herd dynamics 'Free Riding' by Shuna Clark an amazingly inspirational book on riding without a bridle (although it's not a 'how to' book). It was out of print when I last looked but if you can get hold of a copy it's well worth the search.
'Words of Truth and Horses' by Michael Bevilacqua - and anything at all by this man, he has a real connection with horses and is totally without ego. 'How Horses Learn' by Dr Debbie Marsden - a scientific look at how horses learn but without the energy and intuition aspect. Interesting and useful reading. |
